MRI Images for Multiple Sclerosis
MRI: Magnetic Resonance Imaging
The MRI is the preferred method of detecting Multiple Sclerosis in patients; MRI images for Multiple Sclerosis became available in the mid-1980’s and due to the tissue contrast of the MRI, it is better at detecting plaques than the CAT scan. The following are MRI images of people with Multiple Sclerosis; pay close attention to the white abnormalities which are spots where Multiple Sclerosis has damaged the myelin in the brain. 95% of all Multiple Sclerosis lesions occur in the white matter of the brain; although the number of lesions cannot be correlated to disability, the location of the lesions may be directly related to the type of symptoms a Multiple Sclerosis patient may experience.
